(grades 8-12) Youth In Government is a national program of the Y, which involves thousands of teens nationwide in state organized model government programs. The purpose of Missouri YMCA Youth In Government is to prepare students for responsible leadership in the American democratic process by providing guidance, training, and experience in the theory and practice of determining public policy. Here in Missouri, the Y Youth In Government involves more than 800 teens from around the state in an effort to help them learn leadership skills, explore personal values and better understand the democratic process. The program provides a laboratory for student led activities. Any student in Missouri is eligible to participate.
