Position: Cause-Driven Senior Membership and Engagement Director

Reports to: Executive Director

Location: Pat Jones YMCA (1901 E Republic St, Springfield, MO 65804)
Wage Range: Exempt/Salaried ($36,000 - $40,000 depending on experience)

Seeking experienced applicants who will provide supervision and leadership to the Membership department at our Pat Jones Branch.  Their primary focus will be on the growth and retention by developing and implementing innovative ways to promote programs and services within the center and community, while training a team that provides impeccable member service that actively engages with our members.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, hire, train, develop, evaluate and supervise membership staff, KidZone staff, and the Wellness Coordinator.

  • Strategize with Wellness Coordinator in creating initiatives to promote health and wellness in our community, setting and evaluating goals.

  • Ensure the safety of all staff, members and guests by maintaining a high standard of excellence in all areas, supporting ORYMCA’s processes and practices that are aligned with YMCA best practices.

  • Follow up with all prospects, give tours, and sell memberships according to the Y’s sales systems.

  • Community outreach for the purpose of developing prospects, including attending local health fairs and events.

  • Strategically develop programs and initiatives that focus on Member Retention. Follow up with cancelled members to determine reason for cancellation.

  • Run and review any reports needed to monitor progress.

  • Serve as a YMCA ambassador to all elements of the community, engage and lead the membership and wellness staff in participation in fundraising efforts, with a focus on Members as Donors, playing a strong role in our Annual Campaign.

  • Serve as the Branch liaison to the Association’s Membership Cabinet; attend and participate in all cabinet meetings. Prepare for the membership campaigns and membership staff meetings.

  • Attend trainings, seminars and conferences related to membership, including sales, prospecting, marketing and retention trainings.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent education/experience

  • Demonstrated experience in successfully leading a team, preferably in a membership setting with a minimum of 2-3 years of customer service experience.

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, negotiation and client presentation skills.

  • Track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals.

  • Competency in Microsoft Office and experience in a membership or customer service database preferred.

  • CPR/First Aid and AED certified within 90 days of employment.
