Sports and Youth Program Director

Position: Full Time Sports and Youth Program Director

Reports to: Executive Director
Wage Range: $35,600 -$38,500 / Full Time / Exempt

Job Summary:

The successful candidate is responsible for the Sports Program, including recruiting, growing, and retaining

participants for the Monett Area community.  The incumbent will exhibit the core values of caring, honesty,

respect, and responsibility in all aspects of their work, as well as model the Y Mission of putting Christian principles

into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. The candidate is responsible for

 the overall safety and enjoyment of participants by promoting and role modeling a healthy and safe environment.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, hire, onboard, train, schedule, evaluate, and supervise staff and volunteers for all Sport programs, Youth Programs (including, but not limited to Roller-skating nights) and Kid Zone in a manner that results in growth, retention and high quality programs that serve the community.

  • Conduct monthly staff meetings and safety trainings to ensure a competent staff is serving our members and program participants at the highest level.

  • Ensure that daily care of members and participants is a key priority through leadership of all sports and youth program staff by providing direction, support, and resources through strategic planning, administrative standardization, registration, quality standards, risk management, and superior customer service. 

  • Represent and articulate the Association’s core programs to individuals, businesses and communities.

  • Contribute to program curriculums, development, staffing and set annual measurable standards and growth goals that achieve programmatic outcomes that can be evaluated and verified through audits, data collection, surveys, and on-site visits.

  • Responsible for strict adherence to and frequent review of all Sports and Youth and Family policies and procedures related to safety, conduct rules and other regulations.

  • Role model strong fiscal stewardship through the development and monitoring of budgets and forecasting.

  • Flexible hours include evenings and weekends to ensure staffs are engaged and delivering excellence in service.

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required

  • 2+ years supervision of staff and youth experience required; YMCA experience is preferred

  • Required practical understanding and comprehensive knowledge of youth sports programming 

  • Valid Driver’s License to operate a vehicle to conduct work as needed

  • Competency in Microsoft Office and experience in a membership or customer service database preferred

  • CPR/First Aid and AED certified within 90 days of employment is required
