For a Bright Future
Ozarks Regional YMCA- The School Age Service department is privileged to help many families and their needs in different ways in the Springfield area. The various ways the SAS department helps these families is by providing financial assistance to those who cannot afford the programs and by sending their children home fed and healthy every day after school.
Altogether, we have programs at 31 different locations throughout our community. Each program provides food and a safe environment for the children we are serving. Some activities we incorporate in the programs include Club Activity, Healthy Snack, Tutor Table, Active Play, and Friend Time. Club Activity is a time we use for character development where we often discuss the four Core Values of the YMCA: Responsibility, Respect, Caring, and Honesty.
Healthy Snack is where we provide the children with nutritious fuel to keep their bodies moving. Tutor Table is an opportunity for the teacher’s to assist the children in their school work and studying to help them become more successful. Active Play encourages and introduces children to new games and activities that they enjoy to keep their bodies moving. Friend time is a social time we encourage for the children to create friendships that last throughout the year.
We understand the difficulties parents face and the needs they have to give their children the best. We make it our goal to meet those needs in any way we can. The SAS before and after school programs are currently serving over 1,000 participants and their families in the Springfield area alone. It is our desire to continue serving these families to the best of our abilities and to provide healthy and safe environments for their children as well.
