Partnering Against Hunger
Ozarks Regional YMCA- Social Responsibility is one of the 3 pillars of the YMCA. Here in the Ozarks, we know that when we work together, we move individuals, families and our community forward. The Ozarks Regional YMCA responds to society’s most pressing needs by developing innovative, community-based solutions to help those in need reach their full potential. We are also committed to inspiring a spirit of service by uniting individuals from all walks of life to participate in and work for positive social change.
We are thrilled to announce that we have received a $50,000 grant from YUSA. $30,000 of this grant will enable us in partnership with The Fairbanks to provide dinner 5 nights a week, weekends, and holidays to children in our food insecure neighborhoods.
We are excited to be working with the Drew Lewis Foundation at The Fairbanks as well as churches in these most vulnerable communities to give these children a dinner along with fun educational programs. Additionally workshops for parents and caregivers are provided by the Drew Lewis Foundation.
The remaining $20,000 of the grant will enable the Y to provide 5 Star Snacks to children in our at risk After School Programs.
Locations and times will be announced in the coming weeks. Look for more information to come regarding how you can help by volunteering and become a part of this wonderful initiative. For questions, call Jennifer Cotner-Jones at (417) 862-8962 x 2142.
