Becoming a member of the YMCA Swim Team means fun, fitness, and teamwork.
The YMCA Swim Team program is a developmental swim program led by trained coaches to improve swimmers’ competitive skills and endurance through progression rather than intense competition.
Participating in YMCA Swim Teams promotes healthy lifestyles while embracing the five core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and equity. Our trained coaches work to improve swimmers’ skill level and endurance, and to promote a healthy lifestyle. Our program embraces the YMCA core values and promotes progression at an individual level.
The YMCA Swim Team offers up to three practice times a week for beginning swimmers and more for advanced groups. Swimmers are encouraged to attend at least 2-3 practices a week. There are also several volunteer opportunities to help support the YMCA Swim Team.
Swim Team
Swimmers ages 5-21 will work on all 4 strokes developing proper techniques and training for competitive opportunities will exist and are encouraged, but not required.
No previous competitive swimming experience is required, but participants must be able to swim one length of the pool (25 yards) confidently on both the stomach and the back.
High School Swim Teams
Several Ozarks Regional YMCA branches partner with their area high schools to promote swim team programs at the Y. These partnerships were forged for many reasons and are beneficial to both parties. YMCA members interested in registering for the high school swim team should do so through their local school system.
