Get Off The Bench & Get In The Game

The Y is a leader in youth sports across the country.

  • The youth soccer program at the Decatur Family YMCA was the first of its kind in the US more than 50 years ago.
  • Basketball was invented at the YMCA Training College in Springfield, Illinois by James Naismith in 1891.
  • And volleyball was invented at The Greater Holyoke YMCA in 1895.

So, you might say we are experts in sports!

At the Y, we not only teach your children how to play the game, we instill confidence, character and a love for sports that can last a lifetime. At the Y, everyone plays and everyone wins.

Find the sport that’s best for your child – or try them all!
