Hit the hardwood with the Y!
Play basketball with the folks who invented the sport! Y basketball offers programs for ages 3 through 17 with weekly practices and games on the weekends.
Y sports encourage and promote healthy kids, families, and communities by placing a priority on family involvement, healthy competition rather than rivalry, the value of participation over winning, team-building as well as individual development, a positive self-image, and a sense of fair play and mutual respect for others.
Families are encouraged to be more than mere spectators, by contributing their time as volunteer coaches—as well as being their kid’s greatest fan.
*Currently unavailable at Dallas County Area YMCA *

Bitty Basketball (Age 3 - 5)
Biddy Basketball is an opportunity to help grow young players physically and socially. In the first four sessions we will focus on fundamental basketball skills; dribbling, shooting, and passing. In the final session participants will be divided and play modified games.
Youth Basketball
Basketball was created by Dr. James Naismith at a YMCA in 1891, and the tradition continues today. Youth Basketball promotes active kids, healthy competition and the Y’s values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
Youth basketball at the Y combines team play and individual skills in a fun and supportive environment. Children develop basketball skills including passing, receiving, shooting, footwork and dribbling. Not only will children have an opportunity to improve their technique, but they’ll also build social skills, gain confidence and develop leadership skills.
Build Self-confidence
When kids are active in sports their self-esteem grows as they learn how strong their bodies are and develop physical skills and self-reliance.
Practice Sportsmanship
Being a good sport shows respect for others and helps keep the game in perspective. Understanding sportsmanship fosters positive habits.
Gain New Skills
Kids learn the basics of the game and refine existing skills under the supervision of caring, skilled, supportive coaches and instructors.
Learn Discipline
Practicing youth sports regularly helps kids learn the importance of discipline, organization, showing self-control, and staying focused.
